Antique Georgian 15k Enamel Portrait Ring
Description: Hand painted grissalie (a grey-tones painting technique) portrait of a woman's profile set in a 15k gold bezel with enamel border. Tokens of love and remembrance, each portrait miniature is one-of-a-kind. This ring features a simple navy and white enamel border, milgrain edge and is set behind a gently curved rock crystal. The portrait has blues eyes and a subtle blush to the lips and cheek. The back of the ring face has that slight curve that makes Georgian rings so comfortable to wear. We adore the slightly austere look of the grey tones painting and elegant profile of this mysterious lady.
Measurements: The ring size is 5 1/2, the dimensions of the face are 11/4" x 1".
Origin: Believed to be French, no marks. C. 1790's.
Condition and Care: This beautiful ring has age appropriate wear to the enamel and crystal but is, overall, in very good antique condition. The shank may have been a later edition. Prolonged submersion may cause water to get under the crystal and harm the portrait. And as with any very old piece you want to be careful not to wear it too hard and to take it off for heavy labor.
Notes: If you would like the ring sized please include the size in the notes column at checkout and allow an additional seven business days. Depending on the work, extra timing or fees may be assessed and we will contact you. Once sized, the ring is a final sale but repairs or adjustments can be made.
