Antique Arts & Crafts 10k Gold Lapis and Blue Enamel Ring
Details: This 10k slightly rose-toned gold ring, with its center cabochon lapis framed in white and blue enamel work, is charming. The hues of both the stone and enamel are bright and vibrant. The band is clean and forks at the front to gracefully support the setting. This is a lovely piece, with its design truly rooted in the Arts and Crafts aesthetic.
From the late 1860's through the 1930's, the Arts and Crafts movement was an international phenomena. The movement - also know as the guild revival movement - was a direct contrast to the era of mourning jewelry of the Victorian era. The movement featured an influx of colorful jewels, pretty enamel work and trailing designs - a return to the celebration of nature and beauty. With a focus on traditional craftsmanship and the use of simple forms, decoration often gravitated toward medieval, romantic or folk styles - all demonstrating an anti-industrial stance.
Measurements: The ring size is 6.25. The setting is 3/4" wide and 1 1/8" tall.
Origin: American, 1930's.
