Antique Early Victorian 12k Carnelian Necklace
Details: This is a lovely necklace showcasing five prong-set oval carnelian cabochons linked by a simple gold chain. The central cabochon is the largest with the flanking stones slightly graduating down in size. Beautiful worn on its own, it also looks fantastic as a layering pieces.
Carnelian is also from the chalcedony family and in ancient times was called the "setting sun." It symbolizes motivation, leadership and courage. It was traditionally worn to prevent illnesses or to attract desire and enhance passion.
Measurements: The necklace is 20.5" long.
Origin: English, c. 1830's.
