Antique Victorian 12k-14k Bloomed Round Locket with Gypsy Set Diamond
Details: This bold, yet minimal, bloomed gold locket features a .20 tcw diamond in a star shaped, or Gypsy, setting. A beautiful swirling monogram sits on the backside. Bloomed refers to the process of dipping a gold item into a boiling acid bath. This process burned off any alloys on the surface resulting in a thin layer of soft pure gold. This thin gold skin is dotted by an infinite number of microscopic pits which cause the matte appearance. Measurements: 1 1/2" from including bale.
Origin: American, c. 1900.
