Antique Victorian 15-18k Turquoise & Pearl Interlocked Horseshoe Locket Pendant
Details: This spectacular pearl and turquoise double horseshoe locket dates from the Victorian era. It features a lovely frame of alternating turquoise and pearls, a bloomed 18k gold front and a glass back for a picture or memento. The back and bale are 15k gold. Horseshoes signified luck and were given throughout the era as symbol of protection. There is a case to be made for horseshoes worn facing up, to hold the luck in or worn down to pour the luck on you. This locket is extra lucky as it shows the horseshoes both ways and intertwined.

Origin: Purchased in England, no hallmarks, c. 1870's.
