Antique Victorian 18k Diamond Snake Ring
Details: A stunning and bold Victorian 18k snake ring. The snake is very minimal in design with a clean, classic look that almost feels modern. It wraps the finger four times and features five graduated European-cut diamonds. The ring sits low on the hand and works well alone or stacked. This ring is in very good condition.
Snakes have long been a strong religious and royal symbols since early Egyptian times. In the Victorian era, serpent motifs came to symbolize eternal love. Snake jewelry and rings in particular became extremely popular in the mid-1800's due to wide spread admiration for Queen Victoria's emerald-set snake engagement ring.
Measurements: The ring size is 7.75. It is 1/2" wide at its widest point, and 1/4" at its narrowest. The weight is 6.2 grams.
Origin: English, c. 1889. Hallmarks include a crown for England, an anchor for Birmingham, 18 for 18k and a date letter for the year 1889.
