Antique Georgian 18k Carnelian Seal Ring
Details: Both substantial and stunning, this carnelian ring is a wonderful piece. Carved into the carnelian - atop the coat of arms - rests an anchor and a griffin. Below, a banner, inscribed in Latin with "Dominus petra mea," which translates to "Lord is my rock."
These rings would be dipped in wax and used to imprint a seal on correspondence. Carnelian is also from the chalcedony family and in ancient times was called the "setting sun." It symbolizes motivation, leadership and courage. It was traditionally worn to prevent illnesses or to attract desire and enhance passion.
Measurements: The ring size is 8.5.
