Antique Deco 10k Gold and Onyx with Euro Cut Diamond Ring
Details: Chic, rectangular onyx ring with a central, bezel set, European cut diamond. The band is classically Art Deco in its column and scrollwork detailing. The band and setting are done in 10k yellow gold, while the bezel setting around the diamond is done in 10k white gold - making the diamond sparkle even more brightly against the black backdrop of the onyx.
History: The Art Deco era was the dawning of a more free time for women and fashion and jewelry reflected that. After WWI ended women were accustom to looser clothes, short hemlines, sportier looks. Displays of wealth were more acceptable. Diamonds became very popular and contrasting materials such as onyx set the diamonds off beautifully.
