Antique Victorian 12k Engraved Engine Turned Locket Pendant
Details: Engine turned in 12k gold with a slightly rosy hue, this is a perfect locket. The combination of the wavy and straight lines at front give the piece such an interesting visual composition - all cut through by a diagonal and clean banner which could be engraved beautifully to personalize the piece. The back of the locket is also engraved with a very stunning circular undulated pattern. The locket is functional, and has space for two good-sized photographs.
Engine turning - or guilloché - involves the use of, what are now, antique machines to engrave delicate patterns. Engraving on metals such as gold and silver commenced in the 18th century.
