Antique Victorian 14k Rose Gold Diamond Marquise Ring
Details: This is a charming Marquise ring featuring beautiful rose cut diamonds. A gold frame separates a central row of seven diamonds - surrounded by a second outer frame of twenty prong set diamonds - creating a layered marquise effect. The rosy band graduates gracefully in width - its widest points at either side of the setting.
The style - quite popular in the Victorian era - originated in the 1700's when King Louis XV requested a cut/style of ring that emulated the smile of his mistress. Also called a Navette design due to its resemblance in look to that of a ship.
Measurements: The setting is 1/3" wide and 1" tall. The ring size is 6.25.
Origin: Mid-European, c. 1890's.
