Antique Victorian 14k Rose Gold Oval Sulphide Ring
Details: This ring is a true treasure depicting the Greek philosopher, Socrates, as he calmly drinks hemlock while his distressed followers bow their heads in sadness.
Sulphide is a cameo incrustation. An artist carves a portrait and makes a cast in ceramic material. This is then encased in glass on contrasting background. Sulphide pieces are very collectible and very difficult to produce.
Measurements: The ring size is 8.5.
Origin: Mid European c. 1830-1850's.
