Details: This gorgeous and substantial 14k dome shaped ring seems to radiate magic. A large honey gold chrysoberyl center stone, features a slice of light radiating North/South and displaying a cat's eye effect. This striking effect, called chatoyancy, occurs when parallel needle-like inclusions inside the gem reflect light into a single, concentrated line. Along side this enigmatic stone are two flush set transitional cut diamonds.

The popularity of cat’s eye chrysoberyl sky-rocked in the 19th Century after the Duke of Connaught presented his fiancée with a cat’s eye betrothal ring. Ceylon, where most of the examples of cat’s eye chrysoberyls were mined could not keep up with the overwhelming demand. Now even lesser known due to far fewer stones in circulation, chrysoberyl and in particular the cat's eye chrysoberyl are even more coveted due to their rarity.
