Details: These sublime Georgian-era earrings are true treasures. They hold foil backed antique rose-cut diamonds in richly patinated sterling silver collet settings. The twinkling white diamonds of various sizes evoke an abstract flower bouquet finished with a lovely acorn at the bottom. These earrings are light on the ear, backed in 18k gold and have ear wires which lock securely in place.

These romantic beauties would be absolutely gorgeous for a bride since the symbolism of acorns is growth and new beginnings. However we also love the idea of wearing them casually. Quite collectable, these lovely earrings a rare and unique find.

Chandelier earrings truly flourished during the Georgian era, when they were known as “girandole earrings,” named after ornamental multi-branched candlesticks. These pieces were designed to complement the high, pinned-up hairstyles and low décolletage necklines of fashionable gowns of the era, ensuring the jewels were displayed prominently. They often formed part of elaborate parures - often earrings and a brooch or necklace set.

Measurements: Earrings are 1.75" long including ear wire, .6" wide at their widest point.

Origin: England, c. 1780's.
