Details: This sweet 14k horseshoe pendant features seven (a lucky number) round flush-set gemstones - three white diamonds and two each of ruby and sapphire. They're set in engraved square settings and the jump ring is positioned on the upper right corner of the horseshoe allowing the charm to hang jauntily askew. We love this piece worn solo on an antique chain, but it also looks gorgeous contrasting with your other collected pendants.

Legend has it that St Dunstan, the patron saint of blacksmiths was thought to have shoed a horseshoe to the cloven hoof of the devil with great force. Afterwards the devil agreed to never enter a house that had a horseshoe over it's door. Thus the good luck charm was born.

Equestrian themed jewelry was very common in Victorian era. The horseshoe motif continued to symbolize luck and ward off evil spirits. Many believed the positioning of the open end up allows the wearer to hold the good luck and protective powers within the horseshoe.

Measurements: The pendant is just 1" long including bale, and just over 3/4" at its widest point.

Origin: American, c.1900.
